BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The Baton Rouge Police Department announced they’ve made an arrest in a fatal double shooting that happened in 2021.
In a news release, police confirmed that Dexter Reed, 28, was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. His charges include two counts of first-degree murder, six counts of attempted first-degree murder, assault by drive by shooting, illegal use of a weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm.
His arrest stems from a drive-by shooting that happened in December 2021 on Brightside Drive near River Road. Reed is accused of firing shots into a vehicle from a passing car, killing 22-year-old Michael Riley and his 5-year-old nephew, Carson Riley. Carson was taken to a hospital where he later died. Police say Michael died on the scene.
