Man charged with DWI after motorcycle chase, crash in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — A Burlington man is facing several charges following a motorcycle chase with deputies early Friday morning, according to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office.

At around 12:55 a.m. on Friday, deputies clocked a motorcycle going 64 mph in a 35 mph zone on Rauhut Street in Burlington.

Investigators say they tried to pull over the motorcyclist at the intersection of Rauhut Street and Sharpe Road; however, after slowing down as if he was going to stop, the driver sped away down Sharpe Road and a chase began.

Deputies say the motorcycle failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Sharpe Road and Lakeside Avenue before crashing into a fence. The suspect then ran away for a short distance before being taken into custody…
