IU Health nurse returns to work in Neuro ICU after surgery to remove brain tumor

INDIANAPOLIS — For years, nurse Liza Smith cared for patients facing some of the most serious neurological conditions inside the Neuro ICU at IU Health Methodist Hospital until she unexpectedly found herself on the other side of the hospital bed.

Smith recently returned to work after undergoing brain surgery to remove a large tumor and cyst that had been putting dangerous pressure on her brain.

“It was a nurse’s worst nightmare to be admitted to the hospital, let alone your own unit,” Smith said…
