Grief, trauma, anger: A year later, Beitel Creek flood horror won’t go away

Fluttering in a bush near Beitel Creek, the slip of bright yellow paper was barely visible.  But when Angel Richards picked it up, what was scrawled in pen on the scrap made her break down in tears.

“I was out that same morning around 4:30 a.m.” the note read. “I passed right by Perrin-Beitel and 410. I’m so sorry for the families affected by this preventable tragedy. Comfort & peace to you all.”

The writer didn’t leave a name. But that didn’t matter to Richards…
