CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man has been charged in connection with a woman’s death in northwest Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD).
Just after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, officers were called to the 6800 block of Ciera Nichole Court. This is in a neighborhood off Valleydale Road.

Officers arrived to find a victim, 51-year-old Shalonda Kashell Hood, with “apparent trauma.” She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Charlotte Fire Department.
Authorities have not said what led up to the incident, but CMPD says this was a domestic situation.
Freedom Division officers detained a suspect near the incident, later identified as Anthony Hood Jr., 27, who was taken to the hospital. The Mecklenburg EMS Agency (Medic) says one person with serious injuries was also taken to the hospital from the same block, but it is unclear if that person was Hood…
