ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque has installed two new public restroom facilities at major transit hubs in the city.

The new Portland Loo brand single-stall restrooms are now open at the Alvarado Transportation Center and the Central and Unser Transit Center. Both facilities feature the standard Portland Loo design, including heated water, handwashing stations, soap dispensers, and accessibility features.
“Public restrooms may seem like a small thing, but they make a big difference in how people experience our city,” Jennifer Turner, director of the Department of Municipal Development, stated in a news release. “Whether you’re catching a bus Downtown or exploring Albuquerque, everyone deserves access to a clean, safe restroom.”
Construction on the Alvarado Transportation Center restroom began in January 2026 and was completed in May 2026. Construction on the Central and Unser Transit Center restroom began in February 2026 and was completed in May 2026. These join the Portland Loo facility on Civic Plaza, which opened in late 2025…
