COLUMBUS, Ohio (WJW) — The Ohio Supreme Court has once again declined to hear Mackenzie Shirilla’s appeal in the 2022 murders of her boyfriend Dominic Russo and their friend Davion Flanagan.
A Tuesday, June 23, case announcement from the state’s high court indicates justices have declined jurisdiction over the case. Justice Patrick DeWine dissented, but his reasoning was not provided in online filings.

Prosecutors in August 2023 proved at trial that Shirilla had intentionally crashed her car, killing the two passengers Russo and Flanagan in July 2022.
Evidence showed Shirilla, who was 17 at the time of the murders, had slammed on the gas, speeding up to 100 mph along a dead-end street in a Strongsville business park, slamming into a brick wall.
A Cuyahoga County judge in August 2023 found Shirilla guilty of murder and sentenced her to 15 years to life…
