E-biker suffers life-threatening injuries in Chula Vista crash

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — An e-biker was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injures Tuesday afternoon after being struck by an SUV in Chula Vista, authorities said.

According to the Chula Vista Police Department, officers responded around 4:52 p.m. to the intersection of East Palomar Street and Raven Avenue following reports of a collision between a vehicle and an e-biker.

Investigators say a Kia SUV struck the rider in the intersection, causing the rider to be ejected onto the roadway. The rider suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local trauma center for treatment.

The driver of the Kia remained at the scene and cooperated with officers during the initial investigation. Authorities said alcohol or drug impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
