New cafe in San Diego empowers refugee and immigrant women with job training

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A new cafe opened in Normal Heights Sunday that not only provides farm-to-table dining but also job training and support for low-income refugee and immigrant women.

The cafe opened at 4712 Felton Street in Normal Heights and operates from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday to Sunday.

The 5,000-square-foot cafe and garden serve as an on-the-job training facility for women to gain experience in hospitality, customer service, food preparation and agriculture. The goal of the program is to help women build skills for long-term employment…
