LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — An Ingham County judge on Monday ordered prediction market company Kalshi to pause its sports betting operations in Michigan for the next two weeks.
The temporary restraining order stems from an ongoing lawsuit against the company filed by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel accusing it of violating the state’s Lawful Sports Betting Act.
Kalshi functions by allowing users to place wagers on the likelihood of sports-related outcomes and complete transactions via commonly used financial systems. Nessel’s lawsuit accuses these activities of being “unlicensed gambling activity.”
