Wannabe cowboys and North Texas locals are losing another foodie favorite in Cowtown. Two weeks after Ribbee’s was forced to close in Fort Worth, a longtime Tex-Mex staple will be the latest to close its doors for good.
La Playa Maya was created by Lupe Ayala in 1988 and is still run by his family today, operating four restaurants across Fort Worth. However, the chain announced that this Sunday, July 5, will be the last day of service for the Stockyards location after almost 40 years.
“We have been honored to serve the Northside community since 1988, first at our original location off of Central, and then at this historic site on North Main,” La Playa Maya wrote on Facebook. “We want to thank the many families and friends who have entrusted us to host your celebrations and meals.
