LANSING, MICHIGAN — Michigan is enduring yet another extreme heat day Thursday, July 2, with feels-like temperatures climbing into the 100s across much of the Lower Peninsula. Southern communities including Detroit, Lansing, and Jackson are seeing the most intense heat index readings, while the Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Michigan face comparatively milder but still elevated conditions in the 90s.
Southern Lower Michigan Sees Triple-Digit Heat Index Values
The hottest conditions are concentrated across southern Lower Michigan, where multiple communities are experiencing feels-like temperatures at or above 100 degrees. Adrian and Kinderhook are topping the list at 105 degrees, with Detroit, St. Clair, and Pontiac following closely at 104 degrees.
Jackson and Flint are reporting feels-like temperatures of 103 to 104 degrees, while Lansing, Sandusky, and Niles are also in the 103 degree range. Saginaw and Sanduskey are seeing 102 to 103 degrees, and Kalamazoo, Holland, and Muskegon are experiencing feels-like readings between 101 and 103 degrees.
Mt. Pleasant is at 100 degrees, marking the northern edge of the triple-digit heat index zone.
Central and Northern Michigan Face 90s Heat Index
