Jet skier recounts trying to save Pawtucket drowning victims

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Jaheim Sambola was jet skiing on the Seekonk River last weekend when he saw a car plunge into the water near the Taft Street fishing pier.

“I can’t remember what made me look in that direction, but when I turned I saw the car in the water,” Sambola said. “I just paused because I was scared.”

Sambola tried to get in contact with the two friends he was jet skiing with, but neither of them answered their phones.

“That’s when I went to the car and saw the people inside,” Sambola continued. “I tried banging on the window and telling them to open the door and get out.”…
