Food truck cooks battle extreme heat as lunch orders keep coming

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – As extreme heat keeps many people indoors, some workers don’t have the option to step away from sweltering conditions — including the people cooking inside food trucks.

In Charlotte, parks were noticeably quiet as residents avoided the hottest part of the day. But inside the 22 Street Kitchen food truck, Felicia Reese said the heat feels even more intense while the team works through a steady stream of orders.

“It’s like a sauna in here,” Reese said as she packed up food for customers. “I would say it’s at least 20 degrees hotter in here.”…
