MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WISN/WBAY) – Powerful storms swept through the southern portion of southeastern Wisconsin on Friday afternoon as the holiday weekend began, toppling trees and power lines, blocking roads and leaving tens of thousands without electricity.
The storms were also connected to a boat overturning on Geneva Lake on Friday afternoon. Seven people were rescued from the overturned boat, but three people died, according to Undersheriff Tom Hausner of Walworth County.
We Energies reported 33,795 customers without power as of 4:05 p.m., with the hardest-hit areas in Racine County (13,147), Kenosha County (12,869), Milwaukee County (5,235) and Walworth County (1,754). Alliant Energy also reported outages, including in the Williams Bay area, where police said downed lines and damaged transformers knocked out power in multiple locations…
