ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A man will spend 15 years in prison for his role in a crash that killed five family members in St. Louis in 2022.
Walter Burton Jr., 22, was a passenger inside a stolen Jeep Cherokee on May 6, 2022, linked to vehicle break-ins in the St. Louis area, according to the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office. Marshawn Stepney, 22, was the driver, and Jaylen Holland, 21, was also a passenger.
The office said that while police were conducting surveillance, officers saw the stolen car weave through traffic at a high rate of speed before sideswiping an Infiniti near Delmar Boulevard and Union Boulevard. Burton Jr. fired shots from the car while the Infiniti attempted to follow the Jeep.
Stepney drove east on Delmar before running a red light near Pendleton Avenue, crashing into a minivan carrying seven members of the Simmons family, according to the office…
