FORT MILL, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Cities and towns across the Carolinas are celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday with parades, celebrations and, of course, fireworks.
But some local towns are celebrating in a different way.
Saturday morning, Fort Mill leaders held their 54th Annual Firing of the Cannons at the Main Street Bandstand in downtown.
The ceremony opened with a performance by the Fort Mill High School band fife and drum corps. The event will be capped with a ceremonial cannon firing conducted by the Short family, who have proudly served for 53 of the event’s 54 years…
