Framingham MA resident joins Peace Corps., will serve in El Salvador

A Framingham woman is preparing to embark on a two-year journey with the Peace Corps in El Salvador, where she will serve as a youth development facilitator.

Emma Rothwell is expected to depart on Sunday, Aug. 9, according to a community announcement. She will begin her service with three months of training, during which she will collaborate with local communities to help Salvadoran youth build employability and life skills.

A 2026 Colby College graduate, Rothwell earned bachelor’s degrees in environmental policy and Spanish. She is among 103 Massachusetts residents currently serving in the Peace Corps, which has seen more than 8,699 volunteers from the state since 1961…
