El Paso City Council moves to stop crypto ATM fraud

The El Paso City Council is poised to tackle cryptocurrency ATM scams.

During its meeting Tuesday, July 7, the City Council will consider a resolution directing the city attorney, along with the city manager, to require warnings on crypto ATMs in the city as a scam- and fraud-protection measure, according to Tuesday’s agenda.

City Rep. Chris Canales, who introduced the item, has already spoken with state Rep. Joe Moody, D-El Paso, and representatives from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) about how these machines are targeting senior citizens and other vulnerable residents…
