K-9 Vick, wounded in fatal Rittman shooting, soon to be released from hospital

WOOSTER, Ohio (WJW) – The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is providing a positive update on K-9 Vick shot and seriously wounded in the tragedy in Rittman on July 5, where multiple people were killed, including a Rittman Police Sergeant.

Captain Paul Brumme said that Vick is going to be released from Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in Copley later this afternoon, where he will continue his recovery at home.

“Vick was hit by bullet fragments from shots being fired by the suspect that struck his back, very near to his spine, along with another fragment going into his chest area,” Brumme said over email. “We were advised nothing vital was struck, however there are still issues to monitor as a result.”

Brumme said it’s too early to tell if Vick will ever be able to return to duty due to the serious injury…
