HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP) — School may be out, but that doesn’t mean the Harrisburg School District isn’t supporting its students—especially as they continue to grieve the loss of two classmates who died unexpectedly at the end of May.
Ryfeek Watson, 14, died after he was hit by a car on Derry Street May 28. Just a day later, Camar Cordero, 17, was shot and killed while walking off the school bus on Sixth Street.
“You know, grief isn’t something that is navigated quickly or sometimes very easily,” said Kirsten Keys, the district’s public relations coordinator. “So to have these resources in place, our superintendent felt was very important, particularly over the summer since those incidents happened so close to the end of the school year.”…
