BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An El Salvador resident has admitted to striking a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle with his car and resisting arrest in Amherst in December 2025 and was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the United States Attorney’s Office said Friday.
Manuel De Jesus Jandres Martinez, 33, pleaded guilty to depredation of government property and assaulting, resisting, or impeding a federal officer. He was sentenced to time served before being turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Officials said that on Dec. 31, 2025, Jandres Martinez tried to flee from a Millersport Highway hotel parking lot after Border Patrol officers approached his vehicle and identified themselves as officers. As Jandres Martinez attempted to flee, he reversed and struck the Border Patrol vehicle, causing more than $1,000 in damages. Jandres Martinez then resisted Border Patrol agents, running and locking himself in a hotel room, officials said.
