Boones Mill woman faces prison after exploiting veteran in her care

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – A local woman is facing prison time after she allegedly neglected a Vietnam War veteran placed in her care and cashed thousands of dollars in his name.

That woman is 50-year-old Melissa Diana Simmons of Boones Mill. She pled guilty to forgery of government checks June 23, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Western District of Virginia.
