PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A cat is safe after someone reportedly tried to throw it from a moving vehicle while crossing the Woodrow Wilson Bridge over the weekend, authorities said.
Maryland National Capital Park Police officers with the Prince George’s County Division responded to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Trail on Sunday after a concerned citizen reported witnessing the incident.

Officers were able to find the frightened feline and used a can of wet cat food to lure it to safety. Officials noted that the small cat is now “receiving the care it deserves.”
“We commend the citizen for speaking up and our officers for taking immediate actionto protect a defenseless animal,” police wrote in a news release. “Acts of animal cruelty are taken seriously, and we encourage anyone who witnesses abuse or neglect to report it immediately.”
