Atlanta homeowner discovers contractor wasn’t licensed after $250K storm rebuild

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – An Atlanta homeowner is accusing the contractor who rebuilt her storm-damaged home of leaving her a crooked chimney and unfinished floors after receiving $210,000 in insurance checks.

Judith Standard has lived in her home near Cheshire Bridge Road since 1970. After a massive tree struck her chimney and living room, State Farm estimated the total repairs at $250,722, covering the roof, chimney, deck, walls, and water-damaged hardwood floors.

Standard said she did not seek out the contractor herself. “I have no idea how that guy showed up in my house,” she said…
