Smoky skies prompting air quality concerns in Massachusetts

By now you’ve most likely noticed the hazy skies in Massachusetts, and, while some might find it picturesque, others, especially those with respiratory issues, find it concerning.

Whether you think the milky haze looks orange, pink, brown or grey — it’s a visible difference, and it’s not going away just yet. In fact, it will be more potent today than yesterday.

Fires in Canada lead to air quality concerns in Massachusetts

The heavy smoke is impacting air quality in multiple states, and it’s forecast to swarm over New England through at least Thursday, at times completely blocking out the sun. It’s blowing into our area from Canada, where there are a dozen or so massive fires aligned from north to south just northwest of Lake Superior. There are some burning in portions of Minnesota, as well.

Most of the smoke is forecast to remain aloft over New England, as it is blowing in with the jet stream, but we’re still watching air quality closely through the end of the week. If it does begin moving closer to the surface, air quality will deteriorate quickly…
