CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Randall County Commissioners Court received an update on recovery efforts following the ‘Hungate’ fire that impacted the area May 14.
Texas A&M Agrilife Extension County Extension Agent J.D. Ragland, gave an update on how producers have been impacted. Sharing that around 35,000 acres was lost in the fire, as well as 250 miles of fence.

“The fencing is real expensive,” said Ragland. “Many producers are at the point now where they’re starting to rebuild their fences, either totally, some of them are having to do it in phases because of the expense, and we’re able to assist them with some help.”
