(KRON) — The Oakland Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle collision Tuesday evening in which a 45-year-old man died after being struck and pinned beneath a dump truck. Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash.

OPD said the incident happened just before 6:30 p.m. near High Street and Coliseum Way.
Police arrived at the scene and found the aforementioned man, who despite the life-saving efforts of Oakland Fire Department personnel, died from their injuries.
“The preliminary investigation determined that the dump truck was traveling southbound on High Street and turned eastbound onto Coliseum Way. At the same time, the pedestrian was crossing northbound on Coliseum Way from the east side of High Street,” said OPD in a statement to KRON4…
