Child rescued after Tracy backyard fire spread to residence

(FOX40.COM) — An 8-year-old child was rescued from a house fire in Tracy, the San Joaquin County Fire Authority and Tracy Firefighters announced on Wednesday in a social media post.

Tracy Fire responded to reports of a backyard fire on the 1400 block of Gentry Lane at around 3 p.m. Once fire officials arrived, they discovered that the flames had extended to a residence, according to the social media post.

Crews were notified at the scene that a child was still inside the burning house, and they immediately initiated an aggressive primary search, successfully locating and rescuing the 8-year-old child, officials said. The child was then taken to a local hospital where they received evaluation and treatment.

Officials said that due to the severity of the flames, additional firefighters and equipment were brought to the scene after a second alarm was requested. The crews were then able to stop the spread, limit the damage to the neighboring home and control the incident in about 20 minutes…
