Details emerge in deadly crash on Highway 90 in San Antonio

The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) is investigating after a man was discovered dead on Highway U.S. 90 on Thursday, July 16. The eastbound main lanes were temporarily shut down as officers worked at the scene.

Authorities were dispatched to a major accident at the 5000 Block of Spurs Ranch at 4:50 a.m., according to a preliminary report from SAPD. The site is not far from Castroville, and residents often take U.S. 90 east to enter the Alamo City.

According to the report, a witness told police they saw what looked to be a body on the roadway while traveling on the highway’s main lanes. The witness circled back to the area and stopped to help a man, who police say in the report was between the ages of 35 and 45.

The man showed signs of having been hit by a vehicle, according to the report. The witness did not observe the crash and made the call to SAPD. The man was pronounced dead at the scene…
