Rain and equipment failures stall Shreveport lot mowing and trash pickup

SHREVEPORT, La. — Shreveport residents are seeing taller grass and piles of debris as rain continues to disrupt city maintenance schedules.

Public works officials said they have completed only a fraction of the planned lot mowing because of constant summer storms. However, a new wave of 18 to 20 contractors is set to hit the streets this coming Monday.

The rain has also contributed to a backlog of more than 1,000 bulk trash pickup requests across the city…
