Florida man extradited after North Branford financial scam targeting 75-year-old

NORTH BRANFORD — A 32-year-old Florida man was arrested on Wednesday for a financial scam that targeted a 75-year-old town resident, police say.

Justin Dwyer Sr., of Fort Lauderdale, is charged with second-degree larceny, first-degree identity theft, fourth-degree money laundering, illegal use of a credit or debit card, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree identity theft, conspiracy to commit fourth-degree money laundering, and conspiracy to commit the illegal use of a credit or debit card, according to North Branford police.

The North Branford Police Department Detective Bureau said they opened an investigation after the elderly resident was allegedly deceived by individuals posting as trusted representatives.
