Local farm confident in protocols to keep produce clean

GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — With state health officials saying lettuce or greens may be to blame for Michigan’s cyclosporiasis outbreak, one West Michigan producer is confident in the science, technology and oversight it uses to keep food safe.

Revolution Farms by Peckham south of Grand Rapids showed News 8 its food safety protocols, including shoe covers, handwashing and specific stations along its production line.

Nearly everything on the production line is automated: setting the soil, planting the seeds, sending the plants to the greenhouse and bringing them out for harvest. The different types of lettuce are the processed and packaged for local grocery stores.
