RICHMOND, Va. — AIR QUALITY ALERT for parts of the Richmond metro and southeastern Virginia until midnight.
Canadian wildfire smoke is causing the haze in the skies. The air quality rating is Code Yellow — which means unhealthy conditions for sensitive groups, including children, older adults, and those with respiratory ailments.
The wildfire smoke will be more concentrated on Friday. The air quality forecast is Code Red — which means active children and adults should limit or reschedule strenuous outdoor activities. People unusually sensitive to air pollution, especially those with heart or lung disease (including asthma), should avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
Highs Friday will be in the lower 90s, and it will be a little less humid. The heat index will be in the 90s for the most part, but a few spots may inch above 100°. An isolated storm is possible across southern and western Virginia…
