SWAT responds to barricaded suspect in Normal Heights, public urged to avoid area

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A barricaded suspect prompted a large police response in Normal Heights Thursday morning after a reported assault involving a landlord and tenant.

According to the San Diego Police Department, officers were called the 4800 block of 35th Street, between Collier Avenue and Copley Avenue, around 6:30 a.m. following reports of a fight between the pair.

As officers gathered more information, they learned a person had been injured outside the home. Police said the victim was allegedly struck with a baseball bat before officers arrived…
