Southern University has started construction on a $50 million student housing development that will have 500 beds during the first phase.
The four-story residence hall will be adjacent to the Horace W. Moody Intramural Sports Complex on Helen Barron Drive. University leaders, members of the Southern University board of supervisors, alumni and community supporters gathered June 25 for the groundbreaking ceremony.
When fully completed, the housing development will provide 850 new student beds on Southern’s Baton Rouge campus. Phase I is expected to be completed in fall of 2027…
