Lincoln support dog stands by Nebraska woman battling ultra rare disease

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Emily Koester’s family was told she would only live to be 9 years old, but last Wednesday she celebrated her 23rd birthday.

At just 5 years old, Koester was diagnosed with the ultra-rare disease Schimke Immuno-Osseous Dysplasia or SIOD.

With just 10 cases in the U.S., Emily is the only case in Nebraska…
