NIXA, Mo. (KY3) – A man was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon following a shots-fired call near a Nixa subdivision, after a foot pursuit and a standoff at a residence. Authorities later determined the man had a federal deportation order issued against him.
Shots fired call and initial response
Christian County Emergency Services received a 911 call at approximately 1:30 p.m. Tuesday reporting a man seen firing a handgun into the air near South Truman Boulevard, near the Forest Park subdivision. The caller reported the man fled west from the area.
Nixa Police responded and determined the initial incident occurred in county jurisdiction, prompting the Christian County Sheriff’s Office to respond. Nixa Police established a perimeter while deputies and the sheriff made their way to the scene.
Foot pursuit
During the search, a Nixa Police officer spotted a man riding a bicycle south on Truman Boulevard and attempted to stop and identify him. The man refused to stop, abandoned the bicycle near Hickory Lane and fled on foot. A Nixa officer pursued him on foot.
Investigators say the man attempted to enter a home through the front door but was unsuccessful and fled again before officers lost sight of him.
