Clark County employees evacuated after concerns raised about toxic material

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — With paperwork in hand, a Las Vegas couple walked to the Clark County Public Defender’s Office to meet their attorney, but the office was closed. A paper on the door indicating everyone inside was moved across the street due to something potentially toxic inside.

On July 2, the Clark County Public Defender’s Office and the Clark County Law Library were moved from their office building located at 309 S. 3rd Street, according to a posting on the building’s doors. Attorneys told 8 News Now the move came after concerns of toxic materials inside, like cancer-causing PCB.

“There’s no question there is PCB in the building,” David Westbrook, co-founder of the Clark County Public Defender’s Union, said. “We don’t have a timeline for our return.”…
