FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) — Residents across Northeast Indiana, Northwest Ohio, and Southeast Michigan are being urged to stay weather aware Friday as strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop during the afternoon while wildfire smoke continues to impact air quality.
The National Weather Service has placed much of the WOWO listening area under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather Friday, with the greatest chance for storms developing between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. EDT.
The primary threats with today’s storms include:
- Damaging wind gusts exceeding 60 mph
- Locally heavy rainfall
- A low risk for isolated large hail
- While the tornado threat remains low, it cannot be completely ruled out.
