BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Lightning-sparked wildfires broke out across the Boise area Thursday as crews and aircraft rushed to contain multiple new starts.
The U.S. Wildland Fire Service Great Basin Unit 1 in Boise, working with the Bureau of Land Management’s Boise District, responded to several lightning-caused fires on 07/16/2026. Crews and aircraft were deployed rapidly to address the incidents and ensure public safety.
The largest of the fires, the Baja Fire, was estimated at about 80-plus acres.
