ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Drivers in western North Carolina and across the country are seeing an uptick in gas prices this week after the United States and Iran resumed full-scale fighting.
This comes following the collapse of a fragile ceasefire between the two nations, triggered by Iranian attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, plus a response by the U.S. that reimposed a naval blockade and launched retaliatory airstrikes.
Gasoline in the Asheville metro area — which includes Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson and Madison counties — is averaging $3.66 as of Friday, July 17, according to GasBuddy’s fuel insights.
