A pickup truck carrying unsecured metal pipes slammed into a sedan in Orange County, sending several long pipes crashing through the vehicle’s rear window in a collision that authorities say could have been much worse.
The California Highway Patrol’s Santa Ana office shared photos of the crash Thursday as a reminder to drivers to properly secure cargo before hitting the road.
According to CHP, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a white pickup truck loaded with metal pipes and a gray sedan. Investigators determined the pickup struck the sedan, causing the unsecured pipes to be propelled forward and spear through the sedan’s shattered rear window.
