Remains found in Shoshone County river identified as missing Deer Park woman

SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho – Human remains discovered on June 25 by a kayaker in the Saint Joe River have been identified by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office, confirming that they belonged to Chantel Williams, a Deer Park woman previously reported missing in Washington state.

According to Shoshone County Sheriff Shawn Wehr, the kayaker who discovered Williams’ remains initially believed they were the bones of an animal. Sheriff’s office deputies were later dispatched to the scene to recover the remains.

With assistance from the Shoshone County Coroner’s Office, the remains were then transported to Spokane County, where the medical examiner used dental records to identify them…
