Saturday will be an unsettled day weatherwise, with Canadian Wildfire smoke returning to Southern New England, along with a chance for showers and thunderstorms later in the day.
That wildfire smoke could be somewhat dense near the ground on Saturday, reducing air quality once again. An Air Quality Alert is in effect across Rhode Island and Connecticut on Saturday. Limit time outdoors on Saturday, especially if you have respiratory issues.
The morning hours on Saturday will be dry, but we’ll watch an increasing risk for showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours.
There could be two rounds of downpours on Saturday, with one round during the mid-afternoon in the 2 to 4 p.m. timeframe, then a lull for a few hours, followed by a final round of thunderstorms later in the evening after 8 p.m.
