Akron still under air quality advisory through Saturday

Akron and Summit County will remain under an air quality advisory Saturday because of smoke from wildfires in Canada, with ratings of “unhealthy” still in effect.

Air quality ratings at Airnow.gov on Saturday morning showed the Akron area at a rating of 136, or unhealthy for sensitive groups, but trending downward from earlier in the week. Ratings reached a high of 379 in Summit County on Friday morning, a number considered “hazardous” by public health officials.

Weather officials advise that, while everyone may experience some health effects. from the poor air, members of “sensitive groups” may experience more serious health effects and should limit their outdoor activities.
