Amtrak Agreement Marks New Step Toward Restoring Reading-to-Philadelphia Rail

Efforts to restore passenger rail service between

The news comes more than four decades after trains last served communities including Phoenixville, Pottstown and Reading.

The Schuylkill River Passenger Rail Authority, or SRPRA, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Amtrak formalizing the railroad’s role in the proposed service. The agreement does not guarantee trains will run, but it moves the project into its next planning phase…
