Truck Driver Dies in I-95 Crash That Closed Lanes for Hours Near Danvers and Peabody Monday

DANVERS, MA — A truck driver was killed Monday morning in a crash on Interstate 95 near Exit 70 in Danvers and Peabody, sending a tractor-trailer onto its side and slowing traffic for hours on Massachusetts’ North Shore.

State police said the truck collided with another vehicle around 10:57 a.m., causing fatal injuries to the truck driver. Authorities did not say what led to the crash.

Crash scene shut down part of I-95

Images from the scene showed the tractor-trailer tipped over with its cab upside down. A minivan was also seen in the median nearby.

A substance spilled from the trailer into the woods beside the highway, according to the report. The crash led to lane closures on I-95 north and on the Exit 70 off-ramp while crews worked the scene.

Drivers were told to avoid the area
