FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY: A Heat Advisory is in effect for much of central and all of west Alabama from 10 a.m. Monday through 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Heat index values will top 105 degrees, mainly along and west of Interstate 65. The combination of the heat and high humidity may lead to heat-related illnesses, especially for anyone spending long periods of time outdoors. Stay hydrated, limit time in the sun, take frequent breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas and check on neighbors and relatives. Never leave children or pets in vehicles and call 911 immediately if heat stroke is suspected.
THE NEXT 24 HOURS: This morning, patchy dense fog has developed and will mix out by mid-morning, leaving us with a good mix of sun and clouds this afternoon.
