A ride-along with CHP features 2 DUI arrests on the overnight shift

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The graveyard shift with the California Highway Patrol consisted of drunk drivers in downtown, speeders pushing 90 mph on White Lane and motorcycles on Rosedale Highway.

California Highway Patrol has made over 1,400 DUI arrests in Bakersfield so far this year according to its most recent numbers. 17’s Connor Dore went to work a graveyard shift with highway patrol to see how DUI tests are administered and how busy an average night with a CHP is in Bakersfield.

We started the night around 8:30 p.m. with the shift briefing. A group of nine officers and two sergeants went over training, as well as what was going on in town. Two concerts — meant the possibility of drunk drivers on the road…
